Latino Student Support Services

A
year-round student support program that addresses the
academic needs of youth enrolled in middle and high school
that are seeking additional support in achieving their
goals and maximizing their success.
The
focus of the Latino Student Support Services is to provide
youth with opportunities that allow them to participate
in positive activities, set goals, experience academic
success, and plan for their futures.

Services
include the following:
- Assist
students in developing an individual plan that addresses
education, employment, and/or personal goals along with
the means for attaining identified goals. The plan is
reviewed and revised throughout student participation
in the program.
- Ensure
that students are informed of the graduation requirements
and are registered for classes that meet district guidelines
as well as meet the enrollment requirements of post
secondary institutions.

Case Management and support services that address barriers
impacting the students lives.

Provide youth with study skills development. Topics
include organization, note taking, time management,
test preparation, and test taking

- Encourage
participants that are enrolled as juniors in Foss, Lincoln,
Mt. Tahoma High, and Clover Park Schools to apply for the Achievers
Scholarship available through the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation. Provide students with support and guidance
throughout the process.

Post Secondary education exploration including assistance
with application and financial aid processes. Organization
of campus visits, scholarship search, and assistance
with pre-college test requirements (PSAT,SAT)

Opportunities to participate in various community events,
develop leadership skills, and volunteer.

Field trips that promote awareness and appreciation
of the diverse community in which they live.
